Title: Senior Software Development Engineer
Location: Beijing, China
The R&D of Data Platform at Search Technology Center Asia aims to build a unified data platform encompassing users, advertisers, and the search engine. We are able to process and present data in ways that enable easy insights extraction on data sets on ever increasing scales. Through such a platform, we are turning data into much more than they are today. Not only on global market, we will make impact in Asia market and drive Microsoft online success in future.
The Data Platform team provides scalable data services and infrastructure required to acquire and process the huge volumes of data related to Microsoft online services and present a single version of the truth in a timely and meaningful way. The team’s responsibilities include:
• Infrastructure and data services that present highly scalable online service data to consumers in an open and flexible way that is easy to operate, maintain and troubleshoot
• Cost effective data services that deliver required value while keeping operating costs low enough to make platform profitable
• Maintain and operate all production, SLA bound data services that present a clear, consistent and comprehensive version of the truth
• Timely access to accurate search and ad information. This includes all SLA bound data delivery services to business and engineering partners
• Empower users through integrated and flexible data services
• Empower engineering partners by providing flexible APIs for integrating their algorithms into the platform data pipelines and for consuming data products.
• Comply with corporate privacy and security policies
And now STC and Data Platform team are jointly starting a new team in Beijing, with initial focus on building Near Real-time Platform, Data Management Service and Data Platform Authoring and Management Tools etc. With this team, you will have the rare opportunity to work on large scale, low latency, robust, distributed, high performing internet scale data processing infrastructure, ranging from real time streaming data processing, distributed database/data warehousing, and metadata semantic management etc.
We are looking for a Sr. Dev Engineer with outstanding skills to lead a talented engineering team. As an Senior engineer, you will be responsible for architectural design and development of key data platform components with innovative algorithms, cloud computing, data mining techniques. You’ll need to collaborate effectively with design, program management, test and external partners/customers to deliver great online service data experience.
Essential qualifications include:
Proven track record for innovation, and the passion and perseverance to seeing it through from incubation to shipping.
Proven track record in shipping software on time, with high quality
Proven track record in leading development team and the ability to grow talented SDEs
Great problem solving skills, strategic thinking and technical skills
5+ years of experience as a developer
Excellent interpersonal, communication and cross group collaboration skills - including interacting with external customers and partners
Experience in building scalable, secure, high performance products and services
Experience and success in working with ambiguity and taking risks
Prior experience / knowledge of data mining, machine learning, cloud computing, experiment, statistics, business intelligence/customer intelligence, user modeling, information retrieval (two or more areas are preferred).
