  • How to deal with negative comments on the Internet?

Yesterday I wrote a article in my blog. I described a common problem about the scholar in Chinese university.  The editor of this website topped this article on their home paper, so it attracted many attentions. I am very sad and a little angry with comments below my article. Many people couldn’t understand my situation, my idea and my feeling. Events like this happen every second on the Internet.

I wrote that I worked very hard but failed to get the national scholarship (about 2941 dollars). As I got in a new field in our laboratory , I couldn’t publish a new SCI paper in one or two year. I put my complains into my blog. I thought I did very well in the association activities and finished a lot of effective academic work, and I was supposed to get the recognition. I really need the award as my reward. Moreover, I argued that I was more excellent than the student obtaining this prize. He just was luck, his instructor gave him a authorship on a research paper. This was not convinced by me.

Unexpectedly, some people gave me negative comments rather than comfort. They can’t understand me. They said I was too anxious to achieve quick success and get instant benefits . I took hours to reply and discuss with them, actually, it was debate. I am tired now, and I don’t like dispute.

I need change. On the one hand, I think I should learn to ignore these comments and be myself. On the other hand, I will never share my negative emotions with strangers on the Internet.
