    Overview

    Config Advisor is a configuration validation and health check tool for NetApp systems. It can be deployed at both secure sites and non-secure sites for data collection and analysis.

    Config Advisor provides system risks, HA configuration, resource limit, and system parameter checks to enable conformance with NetApp best practices. The tool collects information from NetApp systems and evaluates the nature of the configurations. It provides detailed configuration overviews, configuration checks, and cabling checks along with visual cabling diagrams of the shelves.

    Config Advisor is optimized for secure site deployment.  Secure sites have stringent data collection and data security requirements. Config Advisor addresses these requirements through a highly secured data collector and offers secure site customers a flexible data collection and analysis scheme. Config Advisor can be used to perform onsite and offsite data analysis. It can also be used to analyze data that is pre-collected and filtered by using the Data Collector and Sanitizer script.

    Config Advisor AutoSupport uploads the collected config data back to NetApp over HTTPS. This data can eventually be viewed on My AutoSupport, providing a historical configuration record of the system. Config Advisor AutoSupport is independent of Data ONTAP AutoSupport, and has its own direct connection to the internet.

    Installation/Setup

    Unzip the Config Advisor.zip file. Included in the file are Config Advisor.exe, the standalone data collector, and the user guide.

    Usage

    Config Advisor supports analysis for Data ONTAP 7.x and clustered Data ONTAP. When performing 7 mode analyses, Config Advisor supports four possible data collection methods. Network mode, Serial mode, ASUP from NetApp抯 ASUP data warehouse (note this collection mode is only applicable for NetApp employees with access to NetApp intranet), and ASUP from a file located on the NetApp system. For clustered ONTAP, only the network data collection method is supported. Please refer to the user guide for more usage details.
