My favorite writer

I prefer reading to watching movies or other kinds of entertainments. Even after I entered this science and technology oriented university, I am still keeping my interest in the literature. Among all of the writers coming into my life in college, Echo took the first place quite soon in my heart with no doubt.

Echo, called sanmao in Chinese, was the most famous female writer of Taiwan, I think. Her romantic love story with Hexi has come into many girls’ dreams. In her woks, she shared her everyday life with us in a unique soft way. Each day she lived in Sahara seems so exciting and interesting stories happened in every minute there. Sometimes, I just think that she must have made Sahara more beautiful and attractive than ever when she lived there.

 However, besides her dramatic stories, I am also attracted by her own characters showed in her works. Echo was quite an uncommon woman in my eyes. There was such a confliction in herself. She was educated to be quite western and open but totally eadtern and traditional deep in her mind. Therefore, she was almost a perfect woman. She is not only brave, strong in mind, passionate, reasonable, but also warmhearted, soft, gentle and quite tolerant to others. That’s why she could make an easy and happy life in the horrible dessert and get along quite well with the native people.

Among all of her virtues, what I appreciate most is her devotion to her family. You can feel easily her thoughtful tendance to her husband after they got married. She was always trying to make him a sweet and warm home. The scene that she took so many efforts to improve her skills of making palatable dumplings for her husband impressed me a lot. Obviously, she was a clever woman, she could also understand his husband quite well and was always there supporting him. She was such a nice wife and set a good example for many girls now.  I must say that I have learnt a lot for her.

But the fortune played a huge joke on her. She lost her lover seven years after their happy marriage. Then her life fell to the hell and became completely hopeless. At last she left the world with misery. However, people will never forget her and her romantic Sahara love story.
