3.8 Language Support(audio)

The streams include content in multiple languages. Each set of content consists of two programs:

a main audio program that contains speech in English, Chinese, or German, and an associated program that contains a tone or music.

English content: • Main audio is mono and contains English speech. • Associated audio is mono and contains a 2 kHz tone.

Chinese content: • Main audio is stereo and contains Chinese speech. • Associated audio is stereo and contains a 1 kHz tone in the L channel and a 4 kHz tone in the R channel.

German content: • Main audio is 5.1 channels and contains German speech. • Associated audio is 5.1 channels and contains music.

Perform the following steps for all supported audio encoding formats:

1. Select English as the product language. 2. Play the Multiple_Languages_2PID_.trp transport streams.  The main audio content is English.  If dual decoding is supported, the associated audio program plays a mono tone.

3. Set the product language setting to Chinese. 4. Play the Multiple_Languages_2PID_.trp transport streams.  The main audio content is Chinese.  If dual decoding is supported, the associated audio program plays stereo tones.

5. Set the product language setting to German. 6. Play the Multiple_Languages_2PID_.trp transport streams.  The main audio content is German.  If dual decoding is supported, the associated audio program plays music.
